On Wednesday evening, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a car in East San Jose. The collision took place around 8:13 pm near the King Road and Salamoni Court intersection, according to The Mercury News. A man was traveling southbound on King Road in a 2012 Dodge Caravan when he hit a man who was crossing westbound on King outside of a marked crosswalk. The victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.  

The driver fled the scene but was located and arrested shortly afterwards. This marks San Jose’s 4th hit-and-run fatality in 2024, as well as its 43rd fatal collision and 43rd traffic death of the year.
