On Sunday morning, a pedestrian lying in the roadway was run over near downtown San Jose. The collision took place around 6:18 am near 11th and William streets, close to San Jose State University, according to the East Bay Times. A 2019 white Toyota Highlander traveling at a slow rate of speed was leaving an apartment complex driveway heading northbound onto South 11th Street. An adult male pedestrian was lying in the street when the Toyota drove over him.  
 
The driver stopped at the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. At the time of the report, this was San Jose’s 27th traffic fatality of 2024, and the ninth involving a pedestrian.
