On Tuesday morning, a pedestrian was killed in a suspected hit-and-run in Escondido. According to The San Diego Union Tribune, the collision happened around 6:10 am at East Mission Avenue and North Broadway. The victim was walking west across the street when he was hit by a white off-road style SUV making a right onto northbound Broadway. He later died at a hospital.  

Witnesses reported that the SUV had a large spare tire and a red “high lift” style jack attached to the back end. It was last seen driving northbound on Broadway then east on Lincoln Avenue. Broadway was shut down north of Mission while the incident was investigated.
