On Saturday night, a 13-year-old boy was killed and others injured in a two-vehicle crash in Escondido. The crash occurred around 10:00 pm at the North Broadway and Country Club Lane intersection, according to NBC San Diego. Police arrived on scene to find several people injured, and three of them (including the 13-year-old) were transported to nearby hospitals. The teenage boy was later pronounced dead.

Police believe that alcohol played a role in the crash. One of the involved drivers was arrested for felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. At the time of the report, the driver had been booked into the Vista Detention Facility on multiple charges.

Over the years, multiple fatal crashes have occurred at the same intersection, with some residents citing speeding or drunk driving as the cause.
