Last week, a pickup truck crashed into a fire hydrant in National City. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened sometime after 5:00 a.m. on Friday morning, near Cleveland Avenue and Bay Marina Drive. For currently unknown reasons, the pickup truck hit a pole and then completely sheared off the fire hydrant.

There was a 50-foot tall geyser shooting into the air, and the truck ended up on its side. Authorities had to close down a portion of the roadway, including the nearby intersection. It took over an hour for crews to get the water completely turned off though. The driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, but there has been no word on the extent or severity of those injuries.
