On Monday morning, a Waymo vehicle was involved in a two-car collision on the 10 Freeway in West Los Angeles. According to ABC 7, the incident happened around 1:00 am on the eastbound lanes of the freeway near Bundy Drive. At the time of the crash, a person was in the driver’s seat of the Waymo vehicle while its self-driving capabilities were activated. That person and the other vehicle’s driver suffered mild to moderate injuries.

At the time of the report, authorities believed speed to be a factor in the collision but could not say which vehicle was at fault. A Waymo spokesperson stated that an “autonomous specialist” was behind the wheel when they were struck from behind by a vehicle traveling around 86 mph in a 65 mph zone.
