Earlier this week, a woman was fatally struck after exiting her vehicle on Interstate 805 following a crash. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened late Wednesday night, just south of Murray Ridge Road, in the Serra Mesa area. Initial reports indicate that the woman was involved in a separate crash prior to getting hit. She got out of her vehicle after the wreck, and was then hit by a passing motorist.

The motorist said she swerved to avoid hitting debris and struck the woman. That driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. At this time, the incident is still under investigation with the California Highway Patrol. They are advising anyone involved in a crash to stay in their vehicle until help arrives.
