Earlier this week, there was an injury-causing wrong-way crash in Alpine on Interstate 8. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened in the early hours of Thursday morning on the westbound side of the interstate, near East Victoria Drive. Apparently, this crash occurred sometime after 2:00 a.m. and involved a gold Nissan Altima and a blue compact car.

For currently unknown reasons, the Altima was headed eastbound in the westbound lanes and then hit the blue car head on. Both vehicles caught fire, but first responders were able to pull the occupants from the wreckage in time. The drivers were transported to a local hospital for treatment, and CHP officers are looking into whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved in this wrong-way crash.
