On Tuesday night, there was a semi-truck fire and chain-reaction crash on State Route 52 near the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened sometime before 11:00 p.m. in the westbound lanes, near Santo Road. Very few details about this fire and subsequent wreck have been released, but we do know that the tractor-trailer caught fire on the shoulder of the roadway, and there were several explosions.
A vehicle reportedly came to a stop in the roadway to view the burning truck and was struck by another vehicle. The first vehicle, a Toyota Prius, then drove away. Another two vehicles were involved in the crash. Injuries were reported on the scene. A portion of the roadway had to be closed as first responders and firefighters worked the scene. This wreck is still under investigation.
