4th of July Drunk Driver

Over the 4th of July weekend, an impaired driver drove through heavy crowds on Pacific Beach. According to NBC San Diego News Channel Seven, 45-year-old Villiami Pomale is now facing five felony counts and five misdemeanors for the drunk driving episode.

The incident allegedly started after Pomale was involved in a crash at about 6:00 p.m. on Mission Boulevard. Rather than pull over and deal with the consequences, he decided to leave the scene. He struck a pole before driving onto the crowded beach, where he drove for about a half mile. Beach goers jumped out of the way and grabbed children in efforts to dodge the drunk driver.

At least four people were struck during the rampage. Initial reports indicate that he had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system. His bail has been raised from $30,000 to $100,000.
