5 Marines Injured in Interstate 215 Truck Crash

Earlier this week, five Marines were injured when their truck crashed on Interstate 215 in Riverside County. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the wreck happened in Menifee on Wednesday afternoon. Initial reports indicate that the truck they were in was towing an artillery gun when it rolled down an embankment.

Apparently, a 1st Marine Division convoy was headed from 29 Palms to Camp Pendleton for a training exercise, when the seven-ton truck crashed on the side of the interstate highway. There were five Marines injured in the crash, and they were all transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Thankfully, none of their injuries were described as life threatening on the scene. At this time, there has been no word on the cause of the crash, which is likely still under investigation with local authorities.
