52 Memorial Day DUI Arrests in San Luis Obispo

According to the San Luis Obispo Tribune, 52 people were arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) in San Luis Obispo County over the Memorial Day weekend holiday. Authorities note that this represents a 30 percent increase from last year’s Memorial Day weekend. The holiday weekend began after midnight on Friday and went until midnight on Monday.

At least one injury was reported due to a DUI crash. Thankfully, there were no DUI-related fatalities this year. Fourteen different law enforcement agencies participated in the weekend safety enforcement campaign called “Memorial Day Weekend Avoid the 14.” In addition to a sobriety checkpoint, there were various special DUI saturation patrols and routine patrols across the county.
