In March, a self-driving Uber was involved in a fatal pedestrian accident in Tempe, Arizona. Recent reports have surfaced, and the Uber driver was said to be watching a television show on her phone right before the accident. According to CNBC.com, said the driver, Rafaela Vasquez, repeatedly looked down and not at the road, glancing up just a half second before the car hit 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg, who was crossing the street at night. It has been confirmed that Vasquez was streaming “The Voice” on Hulu right before the crash. Whether or not Vasquez will be charged with vehicular manslaughter is uncertain, however, we do know that this fatal accident was deemed avoidable.
