Last Tuesday on Allston Way and Sacramento Street in Berkeley, a motorist and a bicyclist collided. According to the Berkeley Police Department, they are seeking witnesses of this collision to investigate the crash further. The Daily Californian stated that, “At 1:35 pm., the motorist allegedly struck a bicyclist who was traveling westbound on Allston Way.” Alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the accident, however, the bicyclist suffered major injuries and was taken immediately to the intensive-care unit at the hospital. According to California law, bicyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as motorists.
