The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is gearing up for a repair project on the Highway 246 bike path near Solvang. According to KSBY News Channel Six, bicycle riders can expect the bike path, east of Alamo Pintado Road to west of Refugio road, to be closed for about three weeks starting on September 17, 2018. All bicycle traffic in the area will be detoured to the shoulder of the highway during this time.

Although there won’t be any lane closures during this project, there will be intermittent flagging for workers and construction vehicles in the vicinity of the construction area. According to Caltrans, motorists shouldn’t expect delays to exceed five minutes. Motorists are reminded to exercise additional caution and vigilance in this work zone and to expect to share the roadway with cyclists that they would usually see on the bike path.
