Officials with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) are asking for public input on their upcoming California Freight Mobility Plan. Caltrans recently issued a press release regarding their 2019 statewide plan to improve business and community freight connections. According to Caltrans, the California freight systems face a variety of challenges just like the highway systems. Strategists are facing issues like congestion and environmental and economic sustainability. To raise awareness about these issues and gather input from Californians, there will be various public workshops and focus groups held throughout the state over the next few months.

Freight Mobility Safety Impacts Everybody

Very important issues regarding the upcoming California Freight Mobility Plan are freight safety and the impact on communities statewide. Freight transportation doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Issues like air quality, labor advocacy, efficiency and on-the-job safety all have the possibility of impacting the safety and health of everyday Californians. Over the next few months, Caltrans will be accepting public input and community priorities from people across the state. Officials with Caltrans will be meeting with public agencies, advocacy groups, community leaders, tribal governments, industry stakeholders and a variety of other committees and people to gather input for the plan. Caltrans considers this to be a long-term project, and the California Freight Mobility Plan is expected to be finalized in December of 2019.

Importance of Roadway Safety

Freight mobility is just one aspect of roadway safety in California and across the nation. Whether you were involved in an accident involving a commercial trucking vehicle or a smaller passenger occupant vehicle, it’s always a good idea to speak with a lawyer about your claim. You may be entitled to compensation to cover medical bills and other expenses associated with the crash.
