Car Carrier Fire San Diego

Earlier this week, a car carrier caught fire on Northbound Interstate 15. The fire had traffic backed up for nearly two hours. The incident happened at rush hour, around 5:30 p.m. ABC Ten News reports that the rear axle of the carrier somehow caught fire. The fire then spread to one of the vehicles it was transporting.

According to the California Highway Patrol, at least one of the vehicles being transported exploded. Emergency crews were swiftly on the scene. The large tractor-trailer pulled over alongside I-15, near Gopher Canyon Road. How the fire actually got started is still under investigation. No information was released on whether or not any other vehicles were involved.
