Early New Years Day, the CHP were in pursuit after a driver in Oakland, and the driver crashed his car into a homeless encampment injuring two people. NBC Bay Area conferred that “Around 1:10 a.m., officers attempted to stop a Buick driving recklessly on the eastbound Interstate 80 connector to eastbound Interstate 580.” Shortly after, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed directly into the camp.

Two of the injured homeless people were taken to the local hospital with moderate injuries. The driver of the vehicle tried to escape on foot, although, the police could catch him. There were two passengers in the vehicle who were uninjured. The driver was arrested on multiple counts.
