On Tuesday morning, a car struck a utility box and knocked out power for residents in the Grantville area. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened on the 6200 block of Rancho Mission Road at about 2:00 a.m. Very few details about the apparent one-car crash have been released, but we do know that a Ford Mustang hit a San Diego Gas & Electric transformer box. Initial reports indicate that the driver fled the scene after the crash.

Hundreds of residents in Mission Valley, Kearny Mesa and Tierrasanta were without power for hours as crews worked to repair the transformer. There has been no word on whether or not the driver has been located and if that person is facing any citations or charges associated with the crash.
