Last week, a car launched off of I-15 in Escondido and landed on its roof in the parking lot of Westfield North County Mall. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened at about 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning. There were two people in the car at the time of the crash, and the driver was able to free herself and flag down help. The male passenger was unconscious and trapped in the vehicle.

It took first responders nearly a half hour to extricate the injured male passenger. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries. When law enforcement officers arrived on the scene, they found beer cans and bottles all over the car. The driver was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. There has been no word on the current condition of the injured passenger.
