Car Sent Rolling Down Embankment on Highway 198 Kills One

A woman is dead and a man is facing critical injuries after their car was hit from behind, sending the couple rolling down an embankment in their vehicle. The couple was in their 80’s.

Sunday afternoon, a slowdown on Highway 198 near Hanford Armona Road was caused by three vehicles involved in a non-injury rear-end incident. While traveling through the slowdown, a Frito Lay truck going a high speed of 60 mph collided with the vehicle in front of it sending it, and the couple inside, rolling down an embankment. Authorities responded to the accident. Tragically, the woman in the passenger’s seat was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the car that rolled is suffering critical injuries and the driver of the truck was uninjured.

Further details and cause of this accident is under investigation.
