Child Pedestrian Injured in Santa Maria

Over the weekend, a child pedestrian was struck and injured in Santa Maria. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the incident happened on the 800 block of West Barrett Street, just north of West Cook Street, on Saturday afternoon. Very few details about this incident have been released, but we do know that the child had to be airlifted from the scene to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.

No information has been released on the child’s current condition or on the full extent of injuries involved. There has been no word on the cause of the crash. Initial reports indicate that law enforcement officers on the scene did not suspect alcohol impairment of the driver, but this case is likely still under investigation.
