CHP’s Super Bowl Traffic Safety Plan
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has recently issued a press release about their Game Plan for Super Bowl 50 Traffic Safety. The CHP is planning on increasing their enforcement presence on and around February 7, 2016. California is hosting the most-watched sporting event in the nation this year, and the CHP is preparing for the big day. The CHP will be working in combination with various law enforcement agencies, pubic safety agencies and the California Department of Transportation to keep roadways safe. They’ve developed a website specifically for Super Bowl 50 traffic updates, and they’ll be increasing patrols and enforcement around Levi’s Stadium and across the state.
Super Bowl 50 Real Time Traffic
With help from the California Department of Transportation, the CHP has developed a website aimed at giving real-time traffic updates for Super Bowl 50. Motorists can find that website at www.SB50traffic.com. There’s also a mobile version available, although drivers are reminded not to engage in distracted driving. Check the website before you get behind the wheel. Real time traffic alerts will also be posted on Twitter by @CHP_HQ, @CHP_GoldenGate, and @CHPSanJose.

- 47 people were injured in alcohol-involved collisions.
- Officers with the CHP arrested almost 400 people for driving under the influence.
Drunk Driving Prevention
In addition to providing real-time traffic reports and information, the CHP is also going to be stepping up their drunk driving enforcement efforts. Game-day socializing, tailgating and day drinking are all common occurrences on Super Bowl Sunday, but the CHP is urging fans to plan for safe rides home. Designate a driver. Call a cab. Use a ridesharing app. What ever you do, don’t get behind the wheel after cheering your team on with alcohol. If you have been injured or if you have lost a loved one due to a drunk driver, contact an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as possible about your case.
The team at Harris Personal Injury Lawyers, Inc. wishes everybody a safe and happy Super Bowl 50.
