Over the weekend, three arrests were made at a drunk driving checkpoint in Chula Vista. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the DUI and drivers license checkpoint was located on the 600 block of Palomar Street on Saturday night. Law enforcement officers screened 702 of the 1,220 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. They gave 13 field sobriety tests, arrested one driver for possession of narcotics and made 28 citations for unlicensed or suspended license drivers.
Additionally, 20 vehicles were impounded. There were two arrests for suspected DUI and one arrest for suspected driving under the influence of marijuana. The checkpoint was funded by a grant through the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
