A technician died while setting up the Cirque de Solei “Luzia” show, in San Francisco last night. The man, Oliver Rochette, was struck by a lift and died around 7 p.m. Authorities are unsure of the exact cause of the death.  The company will be investigated for up to six months to determine whether the company was following safety regulations properly. NBC Bay Area confirmed an investigation consists of checks and tests on safety equipment and work equipment as well as ensuring workplace conditions met all safety standards.

Within the last five years, Cirque du Soleil has four violations (including 1 death) in the United States. This is the first violation in five years for , Cirque du Soleil in California.
