reno-protesters-hit-by-truck

Yesterday, the American Indian Movement of Northern Nevada was protesting Columbus Day when a pick-up truck purposefully drove through the crowd. KOLO TV stated, that there were five people who were treated for minor injuries after being hit by a pickup driver in downtown Reno. These protesters were standing by the crosswalk blocking traffic when the driver approached.

Based off of the video that captured this incident, there was a physical confrontation between a protester and the passenger of the pickup prior to the driver driving through the people. “Reno Police say the driver of the pickup stopped several blocks away and called police to provide his account of the events. He and his passenger were interviewed and are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.” The group was protesting on behalf of the genocide of indigenous people and they have the goal of changing the observance of Columbus Day to ‘Indigenous People’s Day in Nevada’.
