Construction Worker Struck and Killed on SR 94
Earlier this week, a construction worker was hit and killed while working on State Route 94 in Spring Valley. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened on Wednesday night, sometime before 10:00 p.m. Initial reports indicate that the worker was in an active construction zone and was directing traffic when a 1996 Lincoln Town Car hit him.
Apparently, the westbound side of the roadway was coned off, and the Town Car entered the coned area prior to hitting the worker. Although the 27-year-old construction worker was rushed to an area hospital, he did not survive his injuries. The driver involved in the crash was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. This incident is still under investigation with the California Highway Patrol.
