On Sunday, a woman was injured in a head-on bicycle crash involving a Bike to Bay participant in Coronado. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the woman suffered a broken nose and three fractured vertebrae. At the time of the crash, the woman was riding on the Silver Strand Bikeway. Although Bike to Bay participants were supposed to stay on one side of the bikeway, many of them were weaving in and out of their side at high speeds, endangering other cyclists.

Due to the severity of the injuries, doctors told the woman she was lucky to be alive after the crash. The executive director of the Bike to Bay ride reportedly said they would consider closing the whole bike path for future rides. There has been no word on whether or not anybody else was injured in this bike crash.
