On Thursday morning, a two-vehicle crash caused a fire at a Santa Maria gas station. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the incident happened at the intersection of South Broadway and Battles Road at about 7:00 a.m. Very little information has been released about this crash, but initial reports indicate that one of the vehicles crashed into the Spirit gas station on the intersection’s southwest corner. The impact damaged a fuel pump and started a fire.

Thankfully, the gas shutoff valve was activated so the fire was swiftly extinguished. The intersection had to be closed for over an hour as crews and first responders worked the scene. There has been no word on whether or not any citations have been issued, and the cause of this crash could still be under investigation.
