Crash Causes Senior Home Evacuation

In the early morning hours on Sunday, a single vehicle crash caused a fire near a senior living facility in Oceanside. According to ABC News Channel 10, the incident happened on Oceanside Boulevard and Vine Street at about 3:38 a.m. For currently unknown reasons, an SUV crashed into an electrical box. The wreck started a fire, and 136 customers lost electricity.

Additionally, about 40 people from a nearby senior living facility had to be evacuated. Thankfully, firefighters and SDG&E crews were able to isolate and extinguish the blaze. A Hazmat crew was also called in to remove about 50 gallons of flammable transformer oil. Authorities are still looking for the driver, who fled the scene.
