Last Friday, two people were critically injured in a wrong-way crash near Goleta. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the wreck happened at about 1:25 a.m. on Highway 217. Very few details about this crash have been released, but initial reports indicate that the wrong-way driver was allegedly drunk at the time of the crash. The driver, 21-year-old Grady James Hocking, was headed northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 before heading west in the eastbound lanes of Highway 217.

His Mazda slammed into a Dodge, and both drivers were critically injured in the crash. They were both rushed to the hospital for treatment. There were no passengers in either vehicle. Hocking was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving before he left the hospital. This wreck is likely still under investigation with law enforcement officials.
