Last week, an Amtrak passenger train fatally struck a cyclist in Goleta. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the incident happened near San Pedro Creek and David Love Place, close to the western edge of the Twin Lakes Golf Course. The bicycle rider was headed north when the Pacific Surfliner passenger train struck him from behind.
The engineer reportedly honked the horn and applied the brakes, but was unable to avoid striking the cyclist. First responders and crews rushed to the scene, where the cyclist, a 50-year-old man, was pronounced dead. This fatal collision is still under investigation with local law enforcement authorities. The team at Harris Personal Injury Lawyers, Inc. sends their deepest condolences to the family members and friends of the deceased cyclist.
