Cyclist Struck in Hit-and-Run Crash

On Monday morning, a cyclist was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Encinitas. According to Fox Channel Five News, the incident happened just before 8:00 a.m. on North Rancho Santa Fe Road. A pickup truck, being driven by 36-year-old Alejandro Alvarez Uriostegui, struck a woman bicycling in the southbound bike lane. The truck then went over a curb and the driver took off south, and then east into Rancho Santa Fe.

Thankfully, the victim’s husband was with her, and he was able to get a license plate on the driver’s vehicle. The hit-and-run driver was arrested on Tuesday. The cyclist was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla for treatment of severe injuries. There’s no word on her current condition, but the team at Harris Personal Injury Lawyers, Inc. wishes her a speedy and full recovery.
