Distracted Driving in Santa Barbara Rollover Crash

Earlier this month, a rollover crash in Santa Barbara sent one woman to the hospital. The collision occurred just before 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11th. Charissa Campbell, 28 years old, was driving her Toyota RAV4 westbound on Juniper Street when she sideswiped a parked car. Sergeant Riley Harwood, with the Santa Barbara Police Department, told reporters that Campbell admitted to officers that she looked at a text message on her phone just before the crash.

Witnesses stated that the RAV4 was travelling between 20 and 25 miles per hour at the time of the crash. After sideswiping the parked car, the RAV4 rolled over and came to rest on its wheels. First responders examined Campbell on the scene, and she was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of her injuries. There is no word on the extent of her injuries or her current condition. Although the crash is still under investigation, Sergeant Harwood did remark that Campbell could face a citation.
