ESCONDIDO — On Saturday July 28, 2012, Dr. Robin Vaughan was killed when his motorcycle was hit by a suspected drunken driver.

Brian Joseph Webb, 34, of Murrieta, was driving his Doge Ram truck the wrong direction on Interstate 15 near Via Rancho Parkway when he collided with Dr. Robin Vaughan’s motorcycle around 12:40pm according to the California Highway Patrol.

Jim Bettencourt, of the CHP, said that open alcohol containers were found in Webb’s truck. Webb was arrested after the accident on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Webb faces counts of gross vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence, and driving with a suspended license. He was booked into the Vista Jail.

Vaughan, 60, will leave behind his wife of 40 years, Donetta, their five children and 15 grandchildren.
