Earlier this week, there was a fatal crash involving a driver who fell asleep at the wheel. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the wreck happened as a group of teenagers was heading to Coachella. They reportedly planned to drive from 3:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. to arrive at Coachella bright and early. Unfortunately, the driver fell asleep on I-10, about 40 miles away from the festival.

The vehicle veered off of the road and slammed into trees beside I-10. One of the teens was killed in the crash, and another one was hospitalized with severe injuries including a traumatic brain injury. Their vehicle was reportedly part of a caravan of other friends heading to the festival, and there were text messages between the vehicles prior to the crash.
