Driver Hits Electrical Box in City Heights
Early Tuesday morning, a driver struck an electrical box in the City Heights area, knocking out power to more than 3,000 local residents. After hitting the electrical box, the SUV driver fled the scene. According to ABC News Channel 10, the incident happened at 47th Street and Federal Boulevard, in the Ridgeview-Webster neighborhood at about 1:30 a.m.
Witness reports indicate that the vehicle involved was a grey-colored Dodge SUV. About 3,200 customers were without power for hours. SDG&E didn’t expect to have power fully restored to all customers until almost noon the following day. At this time, there is no word on whether or not law enforcement officers have tracked down the hit-and-run driver.
