Last Monday morning, a suspected drunk driver struck a light pole on Interstate 15, causing it to fall into the freeway near University Avenue. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened at about 3:00 a.m. After the light pole was knocked into the freeway, other drivers struck it and sustained serious damage to their vehicles.
From multiple popped tires and broken rims to potential body damage, the light pole was a serious roadway hazard for many early-morning drivers. The pole fell across three lanes of traffic and at least 12 vehicles struck it before it could be removed. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported. The driver who struck the pole was arrested on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
