DUI Checkpoint in San Diego

Earlier this week, the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) had a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint planned for an undisclosed location somewhere in San Diego. The checkpoint was expected to be on Wednesday night to early Thursday morning, and officers were going to be checking drivers for valid driver’s licenses and signs of impaired driving.

According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, data shows that when well-publicized DUI checkpoints and enforcement operations are conducted routinely, drunk driving crashes can be reduced by as much as 20 percent. This checkpoint is part of a plan to help deter drunk drivers and also remove drunk drivers from the road. This checkpoint, as well as others that are planned this month, are part of a high-visibility enforcement campaign to improve roadway safety throughout the City of San Diego.
