Over the weekend, at least five people were injured in a crash involving a suspected drunk driver in downtown Santa Barbara. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the wreck happened on State Street at about 12:40 p.m. Very few details about the crash have been released, but we do know that a pickup truck rolled onto the sidewalk and struck a building. The truck crashed into Carlitos Café y Cantina.

The truck took out utility poles and hit four people who were on the sidewalk. Those people were transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of injuries. The driver, 53-year-old John Dalton, was also injured in the crash. After the crash, he was charged with suspicion of felony DUI involving drugs.
