DUI Patrols in San Diego For Holiday Weekend

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is gearing up for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, there will be increased DUI patrols on Saturday and throughout the weekend. There will also be a DUI checkpoint in North County on Friday night.

Like many holiday weekends, the Fourth of July is well known for having a spike in drunk driving-related injury and fatal crashes. Last year, there were more than 1,300 arrests for impaired driving in San Diego County. This year, there have been 387 arrests so far. It remains to be seen how the COVID-19 pandemic will be impacting this year’s Independence Day celebrations, but deputies will still be out in full force.
