Officials are calling on drivers to exercise caution at the Oceano Dunes after multiple incidents have been reported involving flipped over vehicles. According to KSBY News Channel Six, emergency crews were called out for at least two overturned vehicles at the dunes recently. Officials are reminding drivers that the speed limit on the beach is 15 miles per hour, but in some places, that’s still too fast. As always, drivers need to exercise caution and drive at the safest speed that is appropriate for the roadway conditions.

Drivers should be very careful on the east side of the dunes, which can be very steep. Slow down as you approach the dunes and be careful not to misjudge the edges. Officials are also reminding spring breakers that open container and DUI laws also apply on the beach.
