Elderly Driver Hits Cyclist in La Mesa

On Tuesday, an elderly driver hit a cyclist and fled the scene in La Mesa. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened on the 7000 block of University Avenue. Very few details about this crash have been released, but we do know that a cyclist was hit, and the driver left the scene. Initial reports indicate that the 74-year-old driver thought he hit a curb. Police officers did track the driver down, and he was surprised to find out he hit a cyclist.

The cyclist, who was in a designated bicycle lane at the time of the crash, had to be transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. No information has been released on that person’s current condition, but he reportedly suffered from a broken ankle in the crash.
