On Tuesday evening, a 91-year-old pedestrian was struck by a suspected drunk driver in Goleta. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the collision happened on State Street, at the intersection of Micheltorena Street, at about 7:34 p.m. Very little information has been released about this collision, but initial reports indicate that the elderly pedestrian was trying to cross the road at the time of the incident. He was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The driver, 26-year-old Nicholas B. Hart was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, causing injury and driving on a suspended license. He has two prior convictions for driving under the influence. He was reportedly in possession of an open bottle of alcohol and marijuana at the time of the crash. There has been no word on the current condition of the injured pedestrian or on the full extent of injuries.
