Electric Cart Crash Injures SBCC Workers

On Tuesday afternoon, two Santa Barbara City College workers were injured when the brakes failed on the electric cart they were riding in. The cart crash happened sometime before 2:00 p.m. and sent both workers to the hospital. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the workers were riding in the cart and traveling down a steep path when the brakes failed. They tried to use the emergency brake, but it didn’t work either.

The cart continued to gain speed down the hill, at which point the two men decided to jump off. They were both injured in the escape, but luckily got out of the cart before it crashed and flipped over about 40 feet away. There’s no information on what make or model the cart was, but Cal-OSHA is currently investigating this workplace incident.
