Last week, a little boy was injured when his foot got sucked into an escalator at the Westfield North County Mall. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened as they were riding the escalator from the third floor down to the second floor. Brandon Rabanal heard his son scream and looked down to see his child’s Croc shoe and foot being pulled into the side of the escalator.

Brandon pulled his son out of the escalator’s grip just in time. The child was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries to his toes and foot. The laceration went down to his tendons, and he was put in a cast due to the severity of the injury. Thankfully, he is now back at home recovering with his family.
