Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010—Early Sunday morning, George M. Reyes was driving his 2006 Lexus eastbound on Avenue S in Palmdale when his car drifted onto the right shoulder.

According to authorities, Reyes veered back to the left and lost control of his vehicle. The Lexus crossed the median and overturned, sliding across westbound lanes, when it came to a stop on its roof.

20 year-old Michelle Garcia of Escondido, Reyes passenger, was ejected from the car and died at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt.

George Reyes was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving immediately following his treatment for major and moderate injuries.

Drunk driving fatalities accounted for 32% of all traffic deaths in 2008, that is, on average someone is killed in an alcohol-impaired driving crash every 45 minutes in the United States (Source: NHTSA/FARS, 2009).

The Harris Personal Injury Lawyers wish to express our heartfelt prayers and condolences to the friends and family of Michelle Garcia.
