Harris Personal Injury Lawyers, Inc. Fall Injury Scholarship Winner
At Harris Personal Injury Lawyers, Inc., we value education and believe all students should have the opportunity to pursue higher education and success. Twice a year, our firm awards a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving student who has suffered a personal injury and, despite adversity, is dedicated to furthering their education and career goals.
Being a personal injury law firm, our team understands the difficult process of rehabilitation and recovery accident victims often face after being seriously injured. Our clients rely on our assistance to not only help them recover compensation from those who caused their injuries but also to help them recover from physical injuries to resume a normal life. We know that sustaining an injury, life-threatening or not, can burden one’s financial future. As a result, we value the opportunity to give back to those students who have been injured and demonstrate perseverance to further their educational goals.
This year’s essay contest winner is Alaina Lantz. Alaina faced unthinkable tragedy when a car accident landed her and her sister in the hospital with serious injuries and ended the life of her father. Alaina suffered from a concussion, three cracks in her spine, and fractures in her arm and leg- which required surgery. After four days in ICU, Alaina and her sister were transferred for three weeks of pediatric rehabilitation and continued physical therapy.
Alaina endured lasting hardships from the incident during the following years in high school but never lost hope in the pursuit of her education and rehabilitation. After successfully completing physical therapy, she was able to resume her favorite activity- dance. Next Fall, she will be attending either East Carolina University or the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill to pursue a career as a pediatric physical therapist.
“I want to be able to help other children that have gone through similar situations like myself”
Through all the hardships, Alaina has learned that this injury does not define her and has allowed herself to grow through these difficulties. She’s an overcomer and is grateful for how far she has come. The team at HPI was moved by Alaina’s story and we are honored to award her this scholarship! We’re proud of all your hard work, Alaina, and we wish you all the best!
