Fatal Crash in Carpinteria

On Sunday night, a crash in Carpinteria took the life of a 66-year-old Santa Barbara man. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the incident happened on Highway 101, just north of Santa Claus Lane, at about 11:35 p.m. For currently unknown reasons, the 2000 Plymouth minivan drifted out of the southbound lane and struck a tree.

Initial reports indicate that the driver and sole occupant, Philip Robert Nevarez, was not buckled up at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead on the scene, and a portion of the highway had to be closed for about two hours as first responders and crews worked. The cause of this crash is still under investigation with the California Highway Patrol. The team at Harris Personal Injury Lawyers, Inc. sends their deepest condolences to Nevarez’s family members and friends.
