Fatal Crash in Carpinteria

The identity of the driver killed in a wrong-way Carpinteria crash has been released by officials with the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Timothy A. Morhar was driving the wrong way down Highway 101, north of Santa Monica Road. The wreck happened after 1:00 a.m. Two people in the car he struck were injured. His car then sped out of control and crashed into a Honda Odyssey. Four people inside of the Odyssey were injured including a five-year-old child and a teenager.

According to KSBY Channel Six News, both vehicles that were struck caught fire. Morhar was trapped in his car and died at the scene. Officials with the CHP say that he may have struck an additional car before the fatal crash. At this time, there is no word on whether or not drugs or alcohol were factors in this crash. This wreck is likely still under investigation.
